IT was a big day for the Wonthaggi Bowls Club
on Tuesday, December 19 when teams from
Phillip Island, San Remo and Korumburra
played pennant games.
After the games were played, Wonthaggi put
on a buffet lunch for their guests.
Then in the afternoon, the mens’ pairs final
was played with the weather really heating up.
The winning team was Denis Stanes and Ray
Hin defeating Fred Kellow and Barry Staggard.
Tuesday night was once again Corporate Bowls
night with TS Construction winning and the en-
couragement award went to MFS Dispensary.
Corporate bowls starts again on Tuesday,
Last week, the ladies club championship
game was played and Kathy Simpson won and
Ann Green was runner-up.
The last game of the year was played on Sat-
urday, December 27.
The club hopes everyone has a wonderful,
safe and healthy New Year.

PRESENTATION night for the Wonthaggi Se-
nior Citizens Indoor Bowling group, prior to
Christmas, was a huge success with everyone
enjoying fun and games. The club opens again
on January 15 with Friday bowls starting on
Wonthaggi Senior Citizens Indoor Bowl’s tri-

Inverloch gym a ‘no-brainer’
BASS Valley Pony Club hosted a combined
Christmas Fun Day with Phillip Island Pony
Club at their grounds next to the Woolamai
Racecourse in mid-December.
The day was a great success commencing
with Pony Club Ring, Fun ring and a very popu-
lar fancy dress competition.

The Bass Valley Pony Club has been busy over last
few months building a new cross country course.
The grounds are looking amazing and the
pony club is hosting more events in 2018.

The club would like to thank all of the busi-
nesses who donated to the raffle and those who
have helped to get the cross country course in
such great condition.
The raffle was the major fundraiser for the
year and the club is very appreciative of every-
thing that was donated.
The kids are overjoyed with all the improve-
ments at the grounds.
All proceeds from raffle are being put towards
finishing the cross country course making for
some very exciting times ahead.

THE Sandy Point Fun Run is
back for another year, kicking
off at 10am on Sunday, January
7 on the beach at Waratah and
finishing at Sandy Point surf
beach. Competitors can regis-
ter on the day from 8.30am to
9.30am and a shuttle bus be-
tween Sandy Point and Waratah
