EVEN before students start prep at Bass Val-
ley Primary in Corinella/Grantville, they are of-
fered a unique program which prepares them
for school and provides a smooth transition
Ready, Set, Go! is a State and Nationally recog-
nised program of excellence which is free to stu-
dents who will be attending the school in 2018.
This year a weekly story time has begun for
children birth to four years to enjoy listening
to stories, singing songs, rhyme and activities
with their mums or dads.
Bass Valley Primary School has lots to offer.
With a daily focus on Literacy and Numeracy,
students are well prepared for their future.
Learning to ‘learn’ and developing a curiosity
for the world around us through community,
national and global projects provides for chil-
dren at all different levels. French is taught as a
second language at Bass Valley primary.
The school integrates Information and Digital
Technology across the curriculum and provides
a broad range of activities at all levels. Clayma-
tion, movie making, green screening, blogging,
coding, robotics and operating the recording
station are just a few of the fantastic activities
students have access too.
Speech and language development are also a
focus with all Education Support staff trained
in Speech Therapy Assistance and supported
by a Speech Pathologist.
Individual and small group activities help all
children develop and extend these important
Science and sustainability studies are an im-
portant vehicle for teaching core literacy skills
through a hands on and ‘real life’ approach.
This supports the explicit teaching which
takes place each day during the two-hour lit-
eracy block. The school has a purpose built
science room which provides hands on experi-
ences for students in a comprehensive and se-
quential science program from prep to grade 6.

Bass Valley primary school is located on Cori-
nella Road between the townships of Grantville
and Corinella. The school currently has an en-
rolment of 202 students from prep to grade 6.
A further 30 students attend the prep readi-
ness program which operates two days-a-week
during terms 3 and 4.
