A CANADIAN, an Australian and a German
walk into a bar...
If you think it’s the premise for a great joke,
you’d be almost right. In fact, it is the premise for
many great jokes!
This Friday night the Westernport Hotel and
Wonthaggi’s own vagabond comedian Marcus
Ryan plays host to an International Comedy
“With the comedy fest just around the corner I
wanted to bring home a little treat for my friends
who can’t make the journey to the big smoke, so
I’ve handpicked a couple of my favourites,” Mar-
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with both
Paco and Shirley over the years in various festi-
vals around the world and reckon they’ll go down
“Besides, it’s a good chance for me to show a
couple of international touring comedian friends
my home area.”
Having now gigged in 40 countries, Marcus
most recently returned from a year-long solo
tour of Latin America, becoming the first English
speaking comedian to perform in several coun-
He brings his new award nominated show
‘¿Hablas Inglés?’ to Melbourne this April as well
as an exciting new concept show ‘Lights Out
“These are completely different shows. The lat-
ter is entirely in the dark - raising money for Fred
Hollows - I’ll be hosting a mix of famous faces
you can hear but not see, and vice versa! It’s go-
ing to be a crazy experiment!” said Marcus.
“I was recently shortlisted for Best Comedy
2017 in Perth and took the show to Adelaide and
received a great feedback, so it’s exciting to know
all I went through was worth it!” he laughs.
“I was held up a knife point, caught up in riots,
earthquakes, arrested... Mum and Dad will be
reading this so some things I’ll have to leave out!
But trust me, it’s worth coming to Melbourne to
In the meantime, you can catch Marcus on
stage for one night only in San Remo this Friday
“Shirley Gnome is a hilarious potty-mouth mu-
sical comedy sensation. If Kevin Bloody Wilson
and Dolly Parton had a love child she would be it!
“As for Paco Erhard, well that stereotype of
Germans not being funny just isn’t true. This guy
will leave you in stitches!”

and the 2nd Korumburra Cub Scouts want to
send their kids to the event at Gilwell Park in
Gembrook, from October 2-6.
It’s a once-every-three-year opportunity and
it’s a great chance to meet with kids from all

participating in a range of life skills activities.
So, this Saturday, March 25, from 10.30am
at the 2nd Korumburra Scout Hall in Queen
Street (Coleman Park), they be staging a mar-
ket fundraiser with all sorts of stalls including
new & used goods, fresh local produce, face
painting, baked spuds, hot food and drinks,
hot dogs, donuts, coffee, tea and Devonshire
teas, plus kids activities and games, the milk-
shake bike and music.
Also, anyone who wants to set up their own
stall can call Sarah Dubignon on 0488 169
425 to make a booking.
One of the main events of the day is Joey
leader Debbie O’Keefe’s ‘Shave for a Cure’ hair-
cut and anyone interested is urged to support
Debbie through the Leukaemia Foundation.
Members of the 2nd Korumburra Cub Scouts are raising money to attend the 2017
