Wonthaggi Community Garden
PULLING up a big handful of carrots to take
away was pretty exciting for the kinder kids
from the Bass Coast Child Care Centre recent-
ly. They saw, some for the first time, exactly
where carrots come from.
It’s exciting for the garden’s old hands too, as
they get to share their pleasure in plants with a
new generation of enthusiasts.
The garden welcomes all ages and abilities.
Anyone with an interest in growing, or learning
to grow vegies, fruit, herbs and flowers, as well
as picking up tips on composting and sustain-
able garden waste management.
Drop in on a Thursday from 10am to noon.
If you would like information about member-
ship, plot availability or visiting, contact the
garden coordinator at wonthaggicommunity-

THE after-hours Monday evening woodturn-
ing sessions have become popular.
It’s common that not every member will be
able to attend every week, but last Monday was
one of those weeks when everybody came and
there was a packed house. Every lathe in the
workshop was being used.
There are a wide variety of lathes available
to use at the workshop, for big pieces, smaller
pieces and there’s even a sitting lathe for peo -
ple who might have mobility problems.

ers, visit www.wonthaggiwoodcrafters.com.
