Wednesday during January.
This provides visitors, espe -
cially the holidaymakers, with
the opportunity to play com-
petition bowls with the locals.
60 ladies and men rolled up
for the initial mixed game on
Wednesday, January 4, and
20 teams were formed to play
two 10-end games of three-
bowl triples in perfect sum-
mer bowling weather.
Four teams won both games.
The winners with 33 points
were Mick Yates (S), John Ar-
nold and Pat Stoneham.
Runner-up with 32 points
and 18 shots up, were Nic Van
Grunsven (S), Jill Bateman
and Allan Johnstone.
Also on 32 points but 12
shots up were Dave Roberts
(S), Arthur Moule and David

THE Loch & District Bowling Club’s annual
Men’s three day tournament was a very suc-
cessful event, with teams arriving from far and
wide to join in.
Players came from Cardinia Waters, Toora,
Mount Beauty, Kyabram, Richmond United, Ko -
rumburra, Meeniyan, and Inverloch.
“This is probably the best attendance we’ve
had for a few years,” Loch and istrict’s Greg
“Our members will travel to their clubs for
tournaments and they’ll return the favour.”
Visitors stayed in local B&Bs and caravan
parks for the weekend-long tournament.
Friday was Mixed Triples Day, the winners
being a team from Cardinia Waters, J Van Vust
(s), D Dance and S Konins, with runners-up the
Kyabram team of Keith Button (s), Mary Grego
and Bev Button.
Best last game went to Brenton Hackett, John
Kennedy and Jim Garnham of Loch.
The club thanks sponsors Walker Electrics
from Korumburra, and Michael Turton from
‘The Tavern’ at Cape Paterson.
Saturday triples were also well attended.
This was a catered day and, thanks to the
club catering team, a lovely lunch was provided.
The weather continued hot, but that didn’t
deter everyone from having a great day.
Winners of the Saturday Triples were the
team from Lang Lang – G Cobett (s), M Kitchen
and J Williams, and runners-up were the Loch
& District team of Colin Cochrane, John Tuck-
field and Alan Seivers.
Best last game went to Keith Button’s team
Sponsors of the day were Alan Mort Limou-
sins and Elders, Korumburra.
Sunday Pairs was played in much better condi-
tions and eight rinks of players enjoyed the day.
Winners were Tom (s) and Geoff Whitelaw
from Mirboo North.
Runners-up were the pair from Mt Beauty,
Phil Hodge (s) and Rob Christie. Best Last
Game went to Alan Mort (s) and Bill Soulsby.
Poowong Dairy-Hardware was the sponsor.
The club thanks all who made this three-
day tournament so successful, including green
keepers, match committee, caterers, sponsors
and everybody involved with the organisation.
The next Men’s event at the club will be Sun-
day Triples on January 29.
